The Eiffel Tower project

Second summary

It's March 2022 meanwhile - about two and a half years since I started with this project. This is what I did until now:

OMG, I love it! It was great fun doing all the modellings.
From time to time I feel like a tourist in Paris, but at the same time staying at my home place, not suffering from aching feet, having coffee and croissants over and over without spending fortunes ;-)

And I find myself becoming an "architectual addict". I find it most interesting to learn about the buildings I'm modelling - catching their logical structure, finding out how those buildings "work"...

Let's have a look at some statistics: We now have

Still there are some points left to do before starting with the Tower itself...

I guess most important will be closing the gap between the Trocadero and the River Seine:

At the moment the difference in LOD (Level of Detail) between left and right side is too obvious, and the Trocadero will be an important motive for my renders...

Another point will be integrating the hill of Montmartre and modelling the Cathedral Sacre Coeur. I guess those of you being familiar with Paris' skyline already missed it:

And I'm gonna do myself a favour and model the Cathedral Notre Dame as well. At the moment it's not very prominent and partially hidden by Paris' University, but it might be a good topic for some Second floor renders...
As you might know it got seriously damaged by fire in 2019, so to me modelling it will be a way to pay respect.
