The Eiffel Tower project

First summary

Time for some reflections. It's end of August 2020, and that's where we are right now:

The whole project now consists of:

The lollipop file is actually 271 MB and includes 16.146 objects with all together 5.232.235 verts.

I can't remember about the time I spent until now. One thing's for sure: I started doing this project in November '19, and it's end of August '20 right now. Had plenty of time during Corona lockdown, but of course it wasn't my only purpose in life ;-)
But you may recognize that we're still far away from having our Eiffel Tower surrounded by city blocks...

The Eiffel Tower itself is still a dummy, helping me to keep proportions in mind. I didn't even start modelling the tower.

It's hard to keep control. The whole project is getting its own dynamic; it seems to be alive - a creature trying to influence me ("Why do you focus this tower? Just have a look at Paris itself! It's lovely! Go on there! Look at THIS backyard! It's TERRIFIC! Do it! Add the Details!"). And the creature is right: Paris IS terrific... and it's great just modelling more and more scenery houses, backyards, details...
But there's a small, tiny voice in my ear saying: maybe terrific, but it's not your topic! Don't forget the Tower itself!

Okay. Getting myself down to earth ;-)
But let me do just some additional two or three city blocks to close some gaps in scenery:

... afterwards maybe start with the tower's basement.
