Renders #2
The four legs are linked together:
You may recognize some things happening in the foreground: again there's some excavation work (can as well be seen on historical pics). I guess the holes will be filled with some flower soil afterwards - the space will host some greenery.
One of the old photos showed some interesting perspective - the photographer standing on one of the scaffolds shooting to the opposite leg. I tried to copy that:
Notice Montmartre and Sacré Coeur on the left as well as the Invalides on the right. The Centre Orthodox with its golden cupolas is a "goof" indeed - it didn't exist at those times, but I thought it would be nicer than having some blank space there...
Now the Tower gets its first floor:
Being a teenager I visited Paris for some days. Of course we had a look at the Eiffel Tower as well, and I remember myself laying on the ground between the legs, looking upward, having this huge mass of iron above my head - most impressive! I couldn't resist doing a render this style.
Of course I should have waited for the Tower being complete, but I may repete this render from time to time:
Back to history: Work was done during 12 hours a day in summer and 9 hours a day in winter. Really hard life, so one day the workers went on strike. To get them back to work Mr. Eiffel installed a canteen on the first floor:
Let's have a look at the South East: the basements for the Expo halls are partially finished, and construction work gradually starts...
The Tower is steadily growing upward. You may notice they started to assemble the Arc Décorative:
Another historical perspective shows the whole ground having the half-finished Expo skeletons in the background. The photographer should have been located somewhere at the Trocadero arcades:
A closeup from the first floor showing the spiral stairs:
Linking the legs at the second floor - and they started to mount the 1st floor gallery:
Again a bottom-up shot:
... and a view to the Expo area:
Another closeup shows the assembly of the gallery and the setting up of the first arcades' pillars:
Second floor is complete:
That's it for now.
Next I think it's time to deal with the elevators...
